How to join RISL?

Joining RISL as an RPI Undergraduate student

RISL hosts a couple of undergraduate students every semester for various projects. To do research in RISL, you have to be enrolled in the Undergraduate Research Program (URP), which could be for credit or for pay. URP for pay is subject to funding availability. You can also do research in RISL as a part of your Discovery Semester in the RPI Experience program.

Typically we recruit students close to the beginning of the academic semesters. To be considered for a potential URP position at RPI, you need to fill this form. We will review the responses to this form as we start recruiting students.

Joining RISL as a Ph.D. student

To join RISL as a Ph.D. student, you have to make a formal Ph.D. application to the department of Electrical, Computer, and Systems Engineering at RPI. Please visit the graduate admissions website to be familiar with the procedure, conditions, and deadline.

If you are interested in joining RISL as a Ph.D. student, please list me as a potential advisor during your application process. Typically I schedule one-on-one meetings with prospective students only after I review their full application package, if I see them as a potential candidate.

Joining RISL as a M.S. student

If you are admitted to RPI’s MS program in ECSE or currently enrolled as a M.S. student and interested in doing research in RISL, feel free to send me an email. Please note that research assistantships in RISL are generally reserved for Ph.D. students.
